COMMUNICATION
Phone
International direct dialing to Yerevan and some regions. The national telephone company is called Armentel (Internet: www.armentel.com/eng/home.htm). Armentel uses international satellite links to make long-distance calls abroad and to avoid communication problems within the country. There are public card phones, over 90% of which are in Yerevan. The phone cards are available from post offices, among others.
Cellphone
GSM 900 is used. The main mobile network providers are Armentel (Internet: www.armentel.com) and VivaCell (Internet: www.vivacell.am), whose service is almost nationwide. Mobile phones can be rented from Rent a Phone (Internet: www.rentaphone.am) for a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 1 month. Prepaid cards are used for international calls.

Post Office
International postal traffic has improved a lot in recent years. The main post office is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located on Republic Square. CULTURE
Religion
Mostly Armenian-Orthodox, besides Russian-Orthodox and Muslim (mostly Kurds). The Armenian Church is the oldest Christian church in the world.
Social rules of conduct
Social life takes place in one’s own home, invitations are often given. Armenians are generous and hospitable. In spite of the scarcity, guests are served lavish meals, and time and again the glasses are emptied to the benefit of the guests. A small gift such as flowers, chocolate or a bottle of imported wine is welcome. You shake hands in greeting. Business cards are not only given at business meetings, but also often when you first meet someone. The discussions inevitably revolve around politics, but caution is advisable. In view of the increasing crime rate, valuables should not be “displayed”. Tip:The staff in restaurants expect tips, sometimes in advance. Fares in taxis should always be agreed before departure. It is advisable to find out about the usual tariffs in advance. The same applies to market stalls etc.

Continental climate with hot dry summers and cold winters. The average temperature in January is -6 ° C, in July 25 ° C. During the summer it can be hot and dry during the day and very cold at night. The best travel time is May / June and September / October.
