Go on a wonderful holiday to Mexico and enjoy the fantastic beaches, the good food and the exciting excursions – there is something for the whole family. Is there a family holiday in the travel proposal? Then you can calmly set course for Mexico in general and the Yucatan Peninsula in particular. Here, great experiences await for all ages without having to sit in buses and cars for several hours every day to get there.
With a little planning, the trip to Mexico will be a wonderful holiday with room for both experiences, adventures and relaxation. The Yucatan Peninsula is both easy to travel to and child-friendly to vacation on. It also does not matter that Mexican cuisine is one of the best in the world. In this particular travel proposal, you land in Cancun and drive to Playa del Carmen where you stay the first five nights. There are shops and restaurants and activities, there are quiet parts of the city that suit families with children perfectly with short distances to life and movement. It also includes a day trip to one of the world’s new wonders – the impressive and well-preserved Mayan ruin Chichen Itza.
From Playa del Carmen you then go south to Tulum. Here you feel peace and quiet, enjoy four nights in a hotel located just a few steps from the beach. Tulum is a small town but still a classic stop during a trip to Mexico listed on themotorcyclers. During the days here, a half-day excursion to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere is included and an excursion to Cobá with the pyramids there.
The last stop during the trip is on the fantastic island of Isla Mujeres which is outside Cancun. Here you spend the last four nights – it is a small island with lots of nice atmosphere. The days on Isla Mujeres are on their own, there is fun sightseeing and you can also relax on the island’s most delicious beach Playa Norte.
Day 1: Departure from Scandinavia and arrival in Playa del Carmen
You leave Scandinavia and land the same day. You land in Cancun and then drive to Playa del Carmen which is the first stop during the trip. Most flights land so that you arrive at the hotel in the evening.
Day 2-6: Playa del Carmen and Chichen Itza
Playa del Carmen or “Playa” as they say on the spot is located in the middle of the stretch of coast called the Riviera Maya. There is life and movement here all year round, cruise ships stop here and it is easy and convenient to be a tourist here with a large selection of shops, restaurants and activities. Huvudgatan 5 Avenida is especially well visited, but just a stone’s throw away is the quiet neighborhood that rarely sees many tourists. The days here are on their own apart from a day trip to the well-preserved and impressive Mayan ruin Chichen Itza. The ruin is about 2 hours by car from Playa del Carmen and you bring your own English-speaking local guide and lunch is included that day. Just remember to bring extra water because it can get really hot here. The rest of the days you can spend on the beach or why not book a day trip to Akumal where you can snorkel and see turtles or visit Xel-Há Park; a perfect family outing with a focus on underwater life. Day 6-10: Tulum
From Playa del Carmen you head towards Tulum further down the coast. You take a local bus that takes about 1 hour to the center of Tulum, from where you take a taxi on your own to the hotel which is located directly on the beach. Here the days are filled with wonderful experiences. In addition to sun, sand and beach, you have an excursion to the Sian Ka’an Biosphere which is located about 1 hour south of Tulum. The area is a single large nature reserve with beautiful nature and exciting wildlife. And last but not least, you have an excursion to the Cobá Pyramids where you can rent bikes if you want to get around the whole area more easily. This excursion takes place on Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. The rest of the time is on your own, if you have the time and desire you can also visit Tulum’s Mayan ruins which are incredibly beautiful with a view of the azure sea. ( F )
Day 10-14: Isla Mujeres
The last days in Mexico are spent on the beautiful island of Isla Mujeres. You have a joint transfer from the hotel in Tulum to the hotel on Isla Mujeres.
